WGL Assessment - South Wales

The Walking Group Leader award (or WGL) is the appropriate award for leaders operating in the type of terrain often used by DofE groups/Cadets/Scouts etc. South Wales (Black Mountains, Brecon Beacons) is heavily used by these groups as it's one of the more accessible areas from the Midlands and South West. The Cadet Centre for Adventurous Training has a centre at Cwrt - y - Gollen (pronounced cywiqhtyy ooy goxxzhhoun) and the candidates were all involved in ACF or CCF in various parts of the country. The assessment lasts for 3 days and looks at navigation in detail as well as group leadership and management.
