BMG Winter Test

A busy 6 days with no photos to prove it! The BMG Winter Test is an important milestone in gaining the IFMGA Carnet and means the candidate can go on to the alps as an 'Aspirant'. During the assessment we snowholed on the Cairngorm Plateau for two days, climbed mixed and ice at grade V and guided for two further days. Conditions were mixed (they always are for this test!) but good and wintry. I climbed Route Major (IV 5) and Guillotine (V 6) on Carn Etchacarn, Deep Cut Chimney (IV 5) on Hells Lum, Invernookie (III 4) and Short Circuit (IV 5) in the Northern Corries and 'Ruddy Rocks (IV 4) in inclement conditions on the Ben as well as inumerable I's and II's on the expedition. Back to the west coast now for the remainder of the season before heading out to the Alps for more ski training.

Well done Tim! You must be pleased to get to the end of such a stressful week. Enjoy the rest of the season and enjoy the Alps. OB

Thanks Ollie!

It was a great week in 'hindsight'!

All the best

Tim
