Cuillin Ridge

Whilst the rest of Scotland (allegedly) was enjoying the high pressure system the Black Cuillin were as ever 'working their magic'. A ridge attempt was abandoned early (i.e. in the car) and best use was made of the time by completing the Bhasteir Round (Sgurr nan Gillean, Am Bhasteir, Bhasteir Tooth, descent of Kings Cave Chimney and Bruach na Frithe). I forgot the camera on day 1 so have no evidence of the Brokken Spectres and inversion we witnessed for the last hour on the ridge (we were about to descend after spending the day in clag), but it was pretty special. Day two was almost identical in terms of visibility (i.e. none) but we completed most of the Lagan Round: Sgurr Sgumain, Sgurr Alasdair, Sgurr Thearlach and Sgurr Mhiconnich (missing the 'In Pin'). Again as we descended the mist cleared for about an hour and we were witness to a pair of Golden Eagles wheeling in the thermals.

descending slippy, wet rock on the ridgethe strain starting to show...on Sgurr AlasdairSteve, Ian and Sharon (with Tim) in Coire Lagan
