Live on Radio 5 Live.....

At one o'clock we took part in a live phone link with BBC Radio 5 Live. We took part in a brief discussion with other students from elesewhere in the UK. The presenter asked how we coped with the stress of the day - we just said we went with the flow! It was great to be involved in this.

Welcome to the new Term

Hello everyone. Just a little reminder that the next "Practice Day" is scheduled for Tuesday 15th of January. We hope to be able to bring together students from Thomas Hepburn, Whickham School and Dryden School. The aim of this day is to have a chance to practice collecting news stories and seeing what it is like to work under pressure and to a strict deadline because on the day 13th March we will be working under severe pressure and to a very strict deadline.
I look forward to welcoming you all to the CLC on the 15th and explaining more about how the project works.
Mike

BBC Reporters visit City Learning Centre

We've just had a flying visit from Ian Sherwood (BBC News) and Sarah Walton (Radio Newcastle) who'll be helping us and the students out with the School Report Project. Ian and Sarah met with Mike Carter our Project Co-ordinator and then had a tour of the CLC facilities. They're looking forward to working with us!

Practice Day 1

Today,The Gateshead City Learning Centre (CLC) played host to students and staff from The Dryden School in Gateshead. This was the first session for the students where they were introduced to the staff of the CLC and began getting to grips with the technology they will be working with on the 13th March to create their news items for the day.
The students and staff worked very hard to produce a news item and they have started to think about events which they can report on in the future.

Well done to everyone who worked so hard today.

School Report welcomes Dryden School

We're very pleased to welcome our friends from Dryden School to the City Learning Centre this morning. This will be their first School Report session and we'll be showing them (and helping them to use) some key kit for the project - our web radio station, chromakey tv and much more....

More to follow from Dryden....
