We saw the eggs that were yet to hatch and we saw the chicks in the incubator that had already hatched.
The pupils in Year 6 thought of the idea themselves. They held sponsored events to raise the money to rear the chicks.
Once they have all hatched and are able to be taken out, they will take them to the nearby Bill Quay farm where they will be donated.

This is what we found out, the Climate Dome helps pollution, and any carbon it produces it they do something to neutralise it. She told us that the Climate Dome was shutting tomorrow but it would maybe be touring in a different part of the country. Sarah Jane told us the good and bad points of her job and one of the bad points was that her job was very short. She told us we could help the environment in many different ways and that it was important as we would be saving animals such as polar bears. We would like to say a big thank you to Sarah Jane Judge.

The pupils experienced TV presenting, Radio Presenting and compiling stories to post to the ictGateshead website.
Below are a few of the stories the students found and wrote up for publication as well as creating Podcasts for others to hear.

Students from Dryden School were keen to tell people about the grant they have been awarded to make a film about how they learn called "An Uphill Struggle"
9 students from Dryden School have won £1000 from My Mediabox to make a film. The film will be about the problems they have.

The students involved are from Key Stage 4 and Post 16. They are working with Robin Webb to make an animation film. They will be using gadgets like in James Bond or magic like in Harry Potter to overcome their problems.

The group have had a production meeting and have had puppets made of themselves. They have also written and recorded the script.

The film called ‘An Uphill Struggle’ will be finished by the end of March.

Just a little reminder that the next "Practice Day" is scheduled for Tuesday 15th of January. We hope to be able to bring together students from Thomas Hepburn, Whickham School and Dryden School. The aim of this day is to have a chance to practice collecting news stories and seeing what it is like to work under pressure and to a strict deadline because on the day 13th March we will be working under severe pressure and to a very strict deadline.
I look forward to welcoming you all to the CLC on the 15th and explaining more about how the project works.

This was the first session for the students where they were introduced to the staff of the CLC and began getting to grips with the technology they will be working with on the 13th March to create their news items for the day.
The students and staff worked very hard to produce a news item and they have started to think about events which they can report on in the future.
