Happiness...
June 20, 2008
Rosemary Endacott from Lord Lawson of Beamish School writes...
Year 8 pupils from Lord Lawson school are asking to return to Gateshead City Learning Centre as soon as possible following an enjoyable morning spent learning animation skills. Twenty six pupils worked against the clock to create a two minute animated film which had been prepared during the previous week.
Their enthusiasm was matched by the excellent advice and help they received from Paul Stott and Natalie. By the end of the morning, they were reluctant to leave. When they returned to school their smiles and comments said it all:
'Will we go there next week, Miss?'
'Wow! Wait til I tell my mates what we've done.'
'I really enjoyed that. It was brill.'
As the government tries to raise achievement in shools, particularly amongst boys, it's interesting to note that the majority of this group were boys. Many of whom took on extra homework in order to achieve their goals.
Verdict?
A resounding success!

Childnet International Research have just published the above report. The report was written from a UK schools and Further Education perspective. Pretty much essential reading for all those involved in this arena.

Angel Symposium
May 16, 2008
ictGateshead were recently asked to create a website for our friends in Gateshead Council's Arts Department, the website was for the very successful Angel Symposium which was recently held at the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art on 15 May. On the day, not only were we represented through the website, but we were also on hand to give assistance to the many bloggers who were present on the day.
All in all, the day went very successfully and the blog remains online with key speakers presentations to be added...
