This will allow year 6 pupils to work with their teacher in the CLC to develop CADCAM projects. The pupils are from Mr Rix's class at St Thomas More school in Blaydon. Every product has some CADCAM input. This year GCSE students in Mr. Mullen’s year 11 Resistant Materials class have had the opportunity to visit the manufacturing suite at the Gateshead City Learning Centre. The CLC houses a variety of machines, including a Laser cutter, CNC router and stereo Lithography, 3-d printer. The students chose to design either a CD rack or a toy train, which they developed using CAD software (ProDESKTOP). They all made a prototype by hand in the workshop and then manufactured the final product using the CNC machines in the CLC.
